Anne Fischer disputes criticism

Ex-manager's comments misleading, she says

Here is the complete text of Anne Fischer's rebuttal of comments made by her former campaign manager, Will Bigger.

And now for the rest of the story …. The recent article from a former campaign aide Will Bigger regarding my candidacy was exceedingly less than honest and several statements from him were taken totally out of context. Truth be told, much of what Bigger described attributed to me was really about himself and the public has a right to know the facts. I had to cut Mr. Bigger loose from the campaign because of inappropriate behavior and diminished capacity which was deleterious to my campaign efforts. He is a troubled soul coming from a troubled background and refuses to take responsibility for his problems.

When he decided to accept my offer to rejoin my campaign (from helping in 2004), he had quit his job in July 2009 2 months before a contract he had made with the employer had expired. He was being evicted and owed his landlord a sum of money. To help him out, I paid his back rent/utilities; kept his telephone going which then became the "campaign" phone. I bought him some clothes and even a pair of tires after one finally blew because 2 were so badly worn: he had become so indifferent to his circumstances and avoided taking necessary action to prevent a problem. Mr. Bigger dropped out of college twice and his life was going nowhere. Suffice to say, I gave him the benefit of a doubt and an opportunity because he had some marketing skills and campaign experience, but, due to his problems, he turned as a small child would to reject the adult before the adult could reject him. For a 26 year old he displayed juvenile behavior, and talk about indifference, he stated he tore up two checks I had given him.

I am solely responsible for my campaign and any advice or suggestions are just that. I stand on my record of service and professionalism. While I don't pretend to be a saint, though I think the saints are there supporting me, it is interesting to note Mr. Bigger's statement about my wanting to "raise the consciousness of the district," implying somehow that would be a bad thing. Well, I have spent many years working to raise my own consciousness and the pursuit has been nothing less than good; and the real deal is for all of us to strive to reach the Christ consciousness, the emminent goal of what I believe is simply practicing the Golden Rule – which is a foundational tenet of every major religion if not all of them. How sorely this is needed is demonstrated by the mere display of newspaper bloggers who also don't speak truthfully, who make things up sounding like adolescents I taught in some of my high school classes and who do not have to provide any accountability nor do the on-line newspapers which encourage these indulgences and reinforce this maladaptive behavior.

However, all that being said, what I have stated and continue to believe contrary to a statement Mr. Bigger made entirely out of context, we are all divine beings and we can all do great things and more. Politics can get quite ugly as we have seen time and time again, but I choose to remain above the fray, and new doors open all the time. Let's move on because we have serious problems in our world that require high level thought to generate the kind of helpful solutions we need. In fact, we need a complete paradigm shift I believe in our approach to health care. As a former social worker in mental health, I did in fact make diagnoses for people with mental illness and developmental disabilities. However, as I have evolved in my own studies and practice, I do not diagnose but I do describe emotional proclivities that are the source of most diseases, learning problems and relationship issues. Emotions become trapped in the body causing pain and other symptoms which we typically describe as stress; children who come from dysfunctional homes cannot learn and now we see a 35% increase in child death due to parental abuse and neglect.

Our prisons are overflowing with felons because society has not done the prevention or intervention work so necessary. We have become a throw- away society of our human capital, and more and more programs are being cut including child abuse prevention, programs for inmates so they can develop skills, be productive, and regain some measure of healthy self esteem to prepare them when they leave prison. Furthermore, our mental health system has become a shambles when it was restructured several years ago in NC which resulted in a huge disservice to clients.

Clearly something isn't working. Pharmaceutical companies are spending nearly $700,000 per day filling Congressional coffers; insurance companies are deciding who or what claims are covered as their profits continue to sky-rocket and CEO's make $1 million plus per year while consumer premiums continue to soar; the FDA has allowed a rather relaxed protocol for the approval process for new drugs, costing consumers an arm and a leg and many of which end up being toxic to us, all of which is designed to keep the status quo. On the other hand, highly esteemed physicians including Deepak Chopra and Andrew Weill and many other well known practitioners are helping to structure the treatment protocol away from drugs and surgery via complimentary and alternative medicine (CAM) which saves hundreds of thousands of dollars. Thousands of people around the world have been trained in various modalities of a larger field known as Energy Medicine or Energy Psychology which helps people from all walks of life release the stress, untrap the emotions, gain greater awareness and insight in to previous unhealthy behaviors and choices, and obtain better health and well-being. Congress and our government similarly needs new lease on life if we are to survive as a nation, and I ask for your vote on May 4 (or sooner) to bring a new and different perspective that is solution targeted and results oriented from the 10th district to Washington without the bi-partisan bickering and obstructionism.

On a positive note, some really good news is that the sale of soft drinks in schools has fallen by 95% in the last 5 years, so the national Drink Association will stop supplying schools with the sugary liquid.
