A 16-year-old Hickory High student was arrested and charged with having weapons on campus when Hickory police officers found a CO2-powered BB pistol in his backpack Monday.
The call came in at 2:30 p.m. that a student had brought a weapon to school.
"It appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun," according to the police report.
Tim Saddler reported the incident and escorted the student to the office were the school resource officer searched the student's backpack and saw that the pistol was BB gun.
Akeen Jamar Fuller, 16, of 10th Ave. NE was arrested and charged with having a weapon on campus. He was released into the custody of his mother on a $500 unsecured bond.
Fuller told officers that another student gave him the gun and he was planning to take it to the office after class.
