'Hawaii Five-0' remake on CBS schedule

CBS is bringing back "Hawaii Five-0."
We hope they use the original theme music. Aussie actor Alex O'Loughlin steps into the role of police Det. Steve McGarrett, while "Lost" actor Daniel Dae Kim is Det. Chin Ho Kelly.
CBS announced this retro addition Wednesday, along with five other new series, including a "Criminal Minds 2" with Forest Whitaker.
The network also is bringing back Tom Selleck as the New York chief of police and head of a family of police officers in "Blue Bloods." Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan play his grown children. His son is a policeman, while his daughter is a prosecutor.
And there's a new comedy, "$#*! My Dad Says," starring the greatest TV thespian of all time, William Shatner.
Based on the popular Twitter feed by Justin Halpern, this comedy - with a bleeped word in the title - has Shatner playing an opinionated, vulgar and politically incorrect loudmouth (not much of a stretch for Bill).
CBS canceled seven series - "Ghost Whisperer," "Cold Case," "The New Adventures of Old Christine," "Gary Unmarried," "Numb3rs," "Miami Medical" and "Accidently on Purpose."
The "Hawaii Five-0" remake is an interesting choice. NBC passed on a remake of "The Rockford Files" this season because the pilot episode was reportedly a stinker.
The original "Five-0" was named so because Hawaii was the 50th state. The new "Five-0" refers to the governor's state investigative unit.
The original ran on CBS for 12 years, from 1968 to 1980, and starred the late Jack Lord as McGarrett, a no-nonsense stiff. His closing line on each episode, "Book 'em Danno," was said to his sidekick, Det. Danny "Danno" Williams (Scott Caan in the new version).
Another new CBS series, "The Defenders," stars Jim Belushi and Jerry O'Connell as two colorful Las Vegas lawyers. It's one of those dramedies.
And a new romantic comedy, "Mike & Molly," follows the romance between a chubby working-class couple (Billy Gardell and Melissa McCarthy) who meet through Overeaters Anonymous.
The spin-off of "Criminal Minds" won't debut until midseason and the "Criminal Minds 2" title is tentative.
CBS also plans some major schedule changes, such as moving "Survivor" to Wednesday nights and relocating "The Big Bang Theory" to Thursdays while "CSI: NY" will be on Fridays.
CBS renewed 18 returning shows including "Two and a Half Men," "Undercover Boss," "60 Minutes," "NCIS: Los Angeles," "The Amazing Race," "How I Met Your Mother," "Rules of Engagement," "The Good Wife," "The Mentalist," "Medium" and all the "CSI" dramas.
VIDBITS: Fresh off ABC's "Ugly Betty," Vanessa Williams will be moving to Wisteria Lane. Next season on "Desperate Housewives," she will play "a housewife who's sure to shake things up in the neighborhood and wreak havoc."
•Arriving in stores in June will be "The Office" collector's edition of Monopoly. Properties on the game board include Dunder Mifflin Scranton, Schrute Farms, Michael's Condo and Pam & Jim's House.
