Murder-suicide suspected in couple's death

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a couple after a family member found them dead in their home.

Angela Rose and Kenneth Mellon lived together at 1078 Antioch Church Road. A family member came to the house at about 10:30 p.m. on Monday and found the couple dead from gunshot wounds, said Tod Jones, chief deputy with the sheriff’s office.

He could not say when the shooting happened, other than it was “very recent.”

The two were a couple, though Jones was not sure how long they had been in a relationship or lived together.

Jones said the sheriff’s office believes it is a murder-suicide, and that Mellon was the instigator. Investigators found a gun close by, but declined to disclose the type of gun used.

The sheriff’s department is still investigating the deaths.
