Matthew Jason Carter, reported missing last week in Caldwell County, was found dead Tuesday afternoon, according to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies and the NC State Bureau of Investigations had been searching for him and are now working to develop information on the case. At this point, investigators have developed few leads and are asking for the public’s help in solving this homicide.
“We are encouraging the public to call in with tips and information on this case,” said Sheriff Alan Jones. “The investigators are working hard to solve this case, and we need the public to come forward with any information they may have.”
Carter’s body was found in a wooded area off the Crump Rd. in Lenoir. Carter, 32, was last seen at his home on Walnut Drive in Lenoir on Dec. 15. He was wearing a white UNC T-shirt, blue jeans and a flannel shirt.
