Two students were treated at the scene after two school buses sideswiped each other on West Bandys Crossroad on Monday.
A bus with students from Bandys High School and Mill Creek Middle School and a bus carrying students from the exceptional children’s program were traveling in opposite directions on the road when the mirrors from the buses hit, said N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper Brent Hipp. Glass from broken windows on the driver’s side of each bus injured two students, one from each bus, he said. The two students were treated for scratches, say officials.
The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. as one bus was coming off a bridge along the road and the other was coming on to it, troopers said.
No charges have been filed yet, pending further investigation, Hipp said.
