CVCC has $6,000 in electronics stolen

»  Comments | Post a Comment

During the Thanksgiving holidays, someone stole nearly $6,000 worth of equipment from a room at Catawba Valley Community College.

The college reported that someone stole a 21-inch computer, camera, DVCAM — digital video camera, a 19-inch HDTV and a Drobo S, which is a USB backup storage device. The electronics were worth $5,950, according to the police report.

The items were stored in a workroom in the first floor of the Cuylar Dunbar Building, according to CVCC. They were last seen in there on Nov. 23 at 12:30 p.m. They were discovered missing on Monday, at 8:40 a.m., according to the police report.

There was no sign of forced entry, so officials are unsure how the items were taken. CVCC was closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday and Friday.

Additional information about whether the items were insured by the college was unavailable Tuesday.
