Two construction workers were critically injured Friday when the scaffolding they were working on collapsed.

One of the men was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. The other was rushed to Iredell Memorial Hospital.

The men were not identified at the scene.

They had been putting up siding on a private home and fell about 20 feet when the scaffolding gave way.

The men had facial injuries as well as injuries to their backs and torsos, according to an EMS official at the scene.

The home under construction is at 7461 Paul Payne Store Rd. across from the Pleasant Home Fire Baptized Holiness Church.
