It didn’t take the cops long to track down the couple that robbed a Wells Fargo bank Thursday afternoon.
Thanks to the teller who spotted the couple getting into a Yellow Cab to make their post-heist getaway, Hickory officers were able to arrest the suspects within less than 30 minutes of the robbery, according to the police report.
The couple only had time to go to one store after the robbery and that’s where the police caught up with them – in Walmart.
Jason Samuel Setzer, 37, and Rebecca Hope Therrien, 22, are accused of stealing a sack stuffed with cash. Setzer was charged with common law robbery. Therrien was charged with aiding and abetting a felony. Both were charged with possession of stolen goods.
The police were called to the scene of the crime: 1811 12th Ave., NE, at 2:30 p.m.
The victims told officers that Setzer had waited in line for about five to 10 minutes before it was his turn to approach the counter.
When he did, he handed the teller an envelope with a note written on it. The note said, “I need all the money in the register,” according to the police report.
The teller filled a bank bag with $10 bills, $5 bills and $1 bills.
When the bank robber took the money and left, the teller ran to the door to lock it. That’s when she saw Setzer getting into a taxi. There was a second passenger in the car – a woman.
She told officers what she’d seen and they tracked the car to Walmart where they found and arrested Setzer and Therrien.
Setzer’s bond was set at $15,000 secured. Therrien’s bond was set at $7,000 secured.
The investigation is ongoing.
