Another counterfeit bill pops up in Hickory

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Another counterfeit bill popped up in Hickory Tuesday evening and police are unsure if the person who had the bill knew it was a fake.

A man came to the Cubbard Express in the 100 block of US 321, NW, at about 5:50 p.m. to buy cigarettes, according to the police report. He gave the clerk a $10 bill but the cashier noticed that it was bogus and refused to take it.

The clerk mentioned calling the police to get the phony bill but the man left, saying he didn’t want to get involved with the police.

Bogus money was last spotted on Feb. 11, with a $50 bill and two $20 bills. An 18-year-old was arrested earlier this month on felony possession of five or more counterfeit instruments and uttering a forged instrument.
