The arrest of Derrick Lavon Gilliland, 51, of Hudson capped a five-month investigation.
The investigation began when Inner-county Counter-drug Enforcement Agents responded to witnesses’ complaints about a large amount of vehicle traffic at Gilliland’s house.
After several under cover purchases of drugs, agents served a search warrant at the property.
On Jan. 11, the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT Team served a search warrant on Gilliland’s home.
They found 167 Hydrocodone pills, just over half-a-pound of marijuana and $600 cash, according to a media release from the Caldwell County sheriff’s office. The drugs had a street value of approximately $3,125.00 according to state guidelines.
Officers seized the cash and drugs along with a pontoon boat, ATV, power saw and assorted tools.
Gilliland was charged with one count of felony possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana, one count of felony trafficking in Hydrocodone and one count of felony maintain a dwelling to keep and store a controlled substance.
Gilliland may also face habitual felon charges.
His bond was set at $50,000 secured. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 2.
