The honor escort will ride from Charlotte to Newton on NC 16 when the remains of Sgt. Willie Dennis Hill are returned home.

Hill's remains were recovered from North Korea and were flown to Charlotte Douglas International Airport today. Touchdown was scheduled for 11 a.m., and the escort planned to leave Charlotte for Newton at noon.

The Patriot Guard will escort the procession in Hill's honor and will stand for the Army hero until he is respectfully interred in Concord Cemetery in Catawba.

The Catawba County Sheriff's Office will lead the caravan through Catawba County to Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet in Newton, where the Newton Police Department will take over until arrival at Tom Rawls Funeral Home.
