Updated trout maps are now available for free download on the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission's Web site, www.ncwildlife.org.

The 23 color-coded maps update the latest published Trout Fishing Maps book and reflect regulation changes in effect after July 1, 2007. Overall, these maps affect more than 2,000 miles of publicly accessible trout public waters in 32 western counties. A PDF version of the updated regulation changes is also available to complement the published map book.

The North Carolina Trout Fishing Maps book contains maps of all trout waters open to public fishing. Maps are color-coded according to the signs posted on the streams and give anglers a guide to fishing regulations in effect on specific streams. The book also shows the locations of game lands and state parks, provides information on universal access facilities for anglers with disabilities, information on the three trout species in North Carolina and contact information for state agencies.

The map book, which costs $12, can be purchased by:

· Going online at the N.C. WildStore, www.ncwildstore.com;
· Visiting the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education at 1401 Fish Hatchery Road Pisgah Forest;
· Calling 1-866-WILDSHOP (1-866-945-3746).

For a complete description of inland waters open to public fishing and the fishing regulations in effect, anglers can obtain a free copy of the 2008-2009 North Carolina Inland Fishing, Hunting and Trapping Regulations Digest. The digest is available from more than 1,100 wildlife service agents located across the state, or downloaded from the Commission's Web site, www.ncwildlife.org.

For more information on freshwater fishing in North Carolina, visit the Wildlife Commission's Web site or call the Commission's Division of Inland Fisheries, (919) 707-0220.
