Brett Tanos made his last hit in a 4-for-4 night sting the most.

After the Hickory Crawdads had scored six runs in the top of the seventh to gain a tie, Tanos homered in the bottom of the inning in a 10-9 South Atlantic League baseball victory in Asheville.

Tanos, a second baseman, also hit another home run and drove in three runs and Joey Wong had a home run and two RBI to spark the Tourists (56-57, 25-19 second half).

Hickory (65-47) fell 1 ½ games behind Kannapolis in the chase for the second half title in the SAL’s Northern Division.

Kannapolis nipped Delmarva (Md.) 4-3 on Monday night.

After taking Tuesday off, the Crawdads begin a home series against Kannapolis on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at L.P. Frans Stadium.

Seven Crawdads had two hits each and Jake Skole, Andrew Clark and Jhonny Gomez each hit a home run.

Clark hit a three-run shot in the seventh and Gomez also homered in the inning, when Hickory wiped out a 9-3 lead by Asheville by scoring six runs.

Kraig Sitton (7-1) got the win in relief for Asheville and Jimmy Reyes (6-1) took the loss, pitching two innings.

Hickory had 15 hits and the Tourists had 14 in a game that featured 20 men left on base, a dozen by Asheville.

Despite combining for 19 runs, the teams were 4-for-26 with runners in scoring position (Asheville was 2-of-18).
