Swafford wins HGM Hotels Classic at Rock Barn

Hudson Swafford of Athens, Ga., entered the professional ranks in June following a heartbreaking loss in the NCAA Championships as a member of the University of Georgia golf team. Fast forward two months and six professional starts, and Swafford’s wound has likely healed. On Saturday at the eGolf Tour’s second annual HGM Hotels Classic at Rock Barn, Swafford picked up his first professional win and the $30,000 first-place prize.

Swafford finished the final round with a 65 to end with a 72-hole total of 266.

Fernando Mechereffe of Charlotte finished one-stroke behind him with a 267.

The runner-up was Mechereffe’s third of the 2011 season, and came along with a check for $16,410.
